- We are seeking a proactive, detailed-oriented, and tenacious Litigation Legal Assistant/Paralegal for work on multi-client toxic tort cases. We expect the cases to go to trial and for the trials to conclude in 2027. This is, however, a permanent position and after these toxic tort trials conclude, the paralegal would remain part of SGB’s team. The following are the job responsibilities for this position right now, although this role will continue to evolve as the cases move through trial:

Job Summary
-
E-file materials with the court in compliance with King County local court rules.
-
Draft, review, and prepare correspondence, pleadings, and discovery in strict compliance with King County court rules.

Save, organize, and track all pleadings, correspondence, and discovery and ESI materials.

Initial review of incoming discovery for missing or incomplete documents.

Monitor and calendar deadlines for multiple attorneys and team members. Communicate to ensure deadlines are met.

Schedule and coordinate client, expert, and witness deposition, trial testimony, and all relevant logistics (travel, availability, prep, etc.)

Schedule medical expert exams, including travel arrangements.

Process and track invoices, costs, and expenses for experts, clients, and deposition/trial needs.

Provide trial support including but not limited to printing and preparing hard copy notebooks for depositions, experts, and trial.

Assist with exhibit labeling, trial notebook creation, and courtroom technology coordination.

Research and other duties, as needed.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
-
4-7 years of experience supporting litigation practice, minimum.

Strong filing experience and knowledge of Washington state court rules, particularly King County Superior Court, including electronic filing procedures.

Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working under a deadline.

Must have strong cooperation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently, with self-motivation, initiative, and follow up.

Ability to prioritize directions from supervising attorneys/paralegals.

Aptitude for problem solving technology and software related questions.

Represent the firm in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

Strong, compassionate, and inclusive approach to teamwork.

A persistent interest in helping people seek justice.

ProLaw and Digital War Room software experience preferred.
-
Trial experience desired.

Salary range: 80k-95k, depending on experience

Location and Schedule
SGB’s main office is in downtown Seattle on the 34th floor of the new Rainier Square Building at 401 Union Street. Most of our employees, including paralegals, work a hybrid schedule, with the option to work remotely up to three days a week after an initial probationary period. Additional in-office, evening, and weekend work should be expected on occasion, such as during a trial.
